Organic wine: what does it mean?

Organic is about how the grapes are grown and how the wine is made. More and more winemakers are choosing it.

In the vineyard

No synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers. The winemaker works with natural treatments, compost and cover crops between the rows, which strengthens soil life.

In the cellar

Rules apply in the cellar too: fewer additives and a lower maximum level of sulphites than for conventional wine. The European organic logo on the label guarantees this is checked.

Can you taste the difference?

Organic does not say everything about taste, but many organic growers work with extra care and show their terroir with purity. With us you will find organic wines from La Dama in Valpolicella, Bott Frères in Alsace and the Chimaera line from Tola in Sicily, among others.
