Which wine with a barbecue?
Grilled meat and smoky flavours call for wines with fruit and character, but without too much tannin.
Red meat and ribs
Juicy, fruity reds such as Primitivo, Nero d'Avola, Shiraz or a Côtes du Rhône are perfect with the smokiness of the grill.
Chicken and pork
A lighter red, lightly chilled, or a full rosé. A Barbera with fresh acidity also works well.
Fish and vegetables
Grilled fish or vegetables call for a fresh white or rosé, such as a Grillo from Sicily or a rosé from Provence.
Tip
On a hot day, put red wine in the fridge for a while too: 16 degrees tastes better than 25.
